We’re rebooting P.I. Jane in a new, more traditional comic book format/length. New pages rolled out once (possibly twice) per week. Collect stories into single issues. New style, new look, new stories, same Jane!
Love how this page turned out. We’re starting with a bang (or, I guress a BOOM)!
Pretty! Shiny! Goes BOOM!
P.I. Jane has returned!
Here’s the new strip (debuting here, apparently) for Lauren Burke’s The Totally Awesome Adventures of Super Valley Girl (and her BFF Zatanna). I think this one came out just ducky.
(I should probably mention I’m seeing if I can bring ‘ducky’ back)
In today’s new Jane strip, we try our hand at Frank Miller-ing. We were trying for a Sin City style and I like how it turned out. We even called it “The Hard Goodbye.” Frank hand-letters (I believe), so it’s not exact, but it still came out nicely.
This is a piece of a one-page story for an upcoming anthology called Captain Amazing to the Rescue! I can’t show the full page yet, but here’s a taste. Note to publishers: please contact me and I can send the full-page. gregsorkin[at]gmail[dot]com.
The newspaper was made from scratch and I’m pretty sure the article text is actually The Beatles’ “Happiness is a Warm Gun,” as a nod to a prop textbook seen on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Once.
Additional lettering (TV screen, the bank sign) by Tony Maldonado.
Here’s a few fancy-shmancy sound effects (and a line thrown in for good measure). The top comes from this strip, while the bottom is found here, (click the latter link for more sound effects n’ stuff).
Jane has a phone conversation with Sloane. Off-panel, someone demands Pat’s ass get there pronto. On-panel, a cat makes a noise. From this strip.
We channel Fight Club (though don’t talk about it) in this P.I. Jane strip. The second panel has been enlarged to show detail.
This comes from a new strip from my writing partner, Lauren Burke; art by Tony Maldonado. It’s called The Totally Awesome Adventures of SuperValleyGirl (and her BFF Zatanna).
These two come from the same strip. We got some bubble-breaking, some wobbly-ness, some sotto voce…
So much going on here. First, there’s the Law & Order reference, including an approximation of their famous sound effect, done in the show’s style. Then, there’s quite a lot of talking going on here. Third, Richard Belzer plays Det. John Munch once more! From this strip.
Jane-as-The-Transporter drives through alt.Life’s virtual streets, screeching some tires behind her (from this strip). Follow the link to see an additional sound effect (alt.Life menu letters by Tony Maldonado).
An action page from I See Monsters! Buncha violence and sound-effects. Some dialogue, to boot. ISM is an all-ages book I co-write/co-created/letter coming soon! Children. Fight. MONSTERS.
Jane returns home to find Heather, an unwanted guest (also from this strip).
Jane thinks-slash-panics (from this strip).
Jane and Marissa have a conversation (from this strip)
